SECOND TERMINAL OF MYSORE IS READY FOR INAUGURATION
The project is being implemented at a cost of nearly ₹30 crore. It entails construction of two additional platforms and two pit lines besides facilities for rake inspection and maintenance so that more trains could commence their journey from Ashokpuram railway station.
This is reckoned to be imperative to decongest the Mysuru railway station, which has 6 platforms but is choked, and hampering the introduction of new services. Several express trains waits at terminal outer in order to get clearance till junctions platform , several trains waits for nearly 20min or more to enter MYSORE JN , in order to maintain smooth traffic in Mysore jurisdiction , Railways to extend several secondary maintainence train which are coming from other point to ASHOKPURAM TERMINAL from MYSORE JN . This promises smooth arrival and departure of trains without delay and congestion , In order to accept more traffic with introduction of new train services or extension from Banglore region , setup of ASHOKPURAM TERMINAL was a better move by railways .
On AUG 14th MP Pratap Simha made a visit to newly sanctioned Railway terminal in Mysore region and inspected Two new stabling lines , Two new platforms and FOOT OVER BRIDGE in ASHOKPURAM , MYSORE . Earlier it was decided to inaugurate it on AUGUST 15th 2023 but now , inauguration date of new ASHOKPURAM TERMINAL will be 15th of SEPTEMBER 2023 .
